Our Physiotherapy Services

Physiotherapy Consulting to ACFs
This is a weekly, ongoing service to assist facilities meet the required Residential Aged Care Service Standards. The particular standards we are most directly involved with are;
2.14 - Mobility, dexterity and rehabilitation
2.8 - Pain management
2.6 - Other health and related services

The Consulting Physiotherapist's duties include assessing and regularly reviewing the residents for their needs in respect to their manual handling, exercise program and their health care directives. This particular service can also greatly assist facilities maximise their funding through ACFI claiming. We also will happily work with ACF management to implement services to well surpass these standards. Examples of extra services are Physiotherapy assistants, walking lists and group exercise classes.

Physiotherapy Treatments for pain management
Our Physiotherapists can provide treatment to the residents for pain management. These treatments are claimable under the ACFI funding as point 4b of ACFI question 12. Treatments can  include massage, Ultrasound therapy, Wax therapy, TENs, specific exercise and more. Our Physiotherapists will take care of all required aspects of the 4b claiming criteria from the pain assessment, to the conduction of treatment, to the ongoing management of the treatment record. This is a great service to residents who have pain and the facility benefits from the claiming of this.

Private Physiotherapy to ACF Residents
We can provide Private Physiotherapists to treat residents on a one to one basis at the Aged Care Facility. This type of service is usually desired if a resident suffers an injury and requires a Private Physiotherapist to rehabilitate their condition. This service is paid for by the resident/their family and is rebateable through appropriate private health insurance of the resident. We can provide private Physiotherapy treatments to Veterans also. These treatments may be covered by The Department of Veterans Affairs if certain criteria are met. The Aged Care Facility's Physiotherapy Consultant can advise residents and families regarding this process.

Education & ACFI
We are able to provide education on all matters related to Physiotherapy in Aged Care. These include;
* Manual Handling - all staff or by train the trainer
* Falls and Injury Prevention
* Limb care exercise conduction
* ACFI systems (related to Physiotherapy and pain management)
* Optimising your ACFI with Physiotherapy
* Pain management techniques
* How to use pain management equipment e.g. TENS machines
